We brought the bike to the shop and proceeded to chop the frame legs out completely at the factory welds and replace them with new extended tubes to accommodate the new 14" over 49mm front tubes, shaving the lower sliders, removing the front fender mounts and polishing the legs gave the bike a unique stance...
After constructing our own handle bars from 1¼" tube that are keyed into the top triple tree, which has all the factory harness ran through them, this also allowed room for the internal throttle. After the handle bars were done we started looking at the foot control mounts, fabricating our own forward controls that feature our 3 blade, dimpled devil tails. We then decided to lower the back with lowering shocks from progressive, this gave a great look but still was missing something, so we fabricated our own seat from scratch that is 1 ¼ inches lower than stock and had the guys at Finish Line Upholstery give it a wrap in leather. Once the frame, seat and controls were finished we knocked of a few miles to see if everything was in order.
Everything was awesome except we left the motor stock with stock pipes and fuel management system to allow the motor to break in properly. Once the motor had some good running miles we fabricated our own pipes with O2 sensors and added a Power Commander Management system, Wow, what a difference! The new combination that our group came up with is scary cool.
Although the motor ran great I knew that as soon as we up graded the power it was going to have problems, so we opted to change the belt drive to our own chain drive system that will be able to handle any hole-shot! How many belts have you broken and been stuck were a simple chain master link would have gotten you home?
After several test rides, we need a new rear tire. The stock wheels did not fit the program, so we contacted HDWheels.com and utilized their 21 inch x 3.5 inch front and 18 inch x 5.5 inch rear that allowed for a 180 series tire to fit with room to spare, these rims feature a show polished aluminum rim and hub with black powder coated spokes and chrome nipples, Hot! We are in the process of creating a new air intake system for this bike and will be done shortly.
